ABOUT

80 billion pounds of food are thrown away in the US each year. A majority of this is from the restaurant industry — their excess food goes to landfills instead of customers, generating thousands of tons of CO2 emissions instead of thousands of dollars in revenue. With so many restaurants closing down due to COVID-19, this additional revenue could be a lifeline for small businesses. Refresh makes it easy for restaurants to earn extra revenue by connecting surplus food to customers at discounted prices, subsequently fighting food waste in the process.
